When I first heard that there were trails being built close to home, I was thrilled. As as avid trail runner, I am always looking for new trails to explore, and MMT offered the perfect landscape. I love learning new territory and figuring out how everything connects, and with the constant building of new trials, I found my trail oasis and am always running on new routes and trying to figure out new ways to hit the system.
When I first started running at Meeks, I never knew I would get the opportunity to be a part of a team and community as well. I remember one day getting a call from a friend, Robert Stonestreet, asking me if I would like to be a part of the new MMT Association that was starting, and as someone who loves to be involved, I immediately said yes. I still ask myself daily why they chose me: I’m not from the Hurricane area, I don’t have a background that would justify my position or expertise, and I only knew a handful of people on the committee. I still don’t know why I was asked to join, but I don’t regret my decision at all. I am thankful for the community, the people, and the ability to be part of something bigger!
Whether you are a runner, biker, hiker, or explorer, MMT has something for you! I’m glad I found such an amazing place.
