The Plymouth/Amherst Natural Wildlife Area is another little-known spot for getting outside in Putnam County. This 7,000+ acre protected area is perfect for a hike with family, walking your dogs, or riding your horse. Located just northwest of Bancroft on Rt 62, it is open to the public year round. Our walk will be on mostly flat gravel and dirt, about a mile to a low-water bridge where we can dip our toes in to cool off before returning to the trailhead.
