A trip to Waves of Fun has been part of summer in Putnam County for years, and the pool officially opens back up on May 23rd for the 2026 season. Located inside Valley Park, Waves of Fun is known for its wave pool, cabanas, and classic summer atmosphere. It’s the kind of place you can easily spend the whole afternoon, whether you’re floating in the waves or relaxing poolside with family and friends.
Sprayground at Hurricane City Park
For families with younger kids, the Sprayground at Hurricane City Park is always a popular summer stop. Opening May 23rd, the Sprayground features interactive water play, plenty of space to run around, and free admission for Putnam County residents. Opening May 30th, Eleanor Pool is another local spot that makes summer feel like summer. Located in Eleanor Park before the fairgrounds, the pool features a diving board, concessions, and shallow sections for small children, making it a great option for families spending the day outdoors. With open swim space and a relaxed atmosphere, it’s an easy place to cool off during the warmer months. Eleanor Pool will also host an End of School Bash on June 3rd from 12-6 p.m., making it a fun way to kick off summer break.
